I take it your coworkers have been complaining about how cold it is on this 50-something degrees day!
Well, it's been -40 (which is the same for Celsius and Fahrenheit) for a week or so which really does suck. But the interesting thing we've discovered is that our kids really don't GET IT. They come from a generation that gets driven to school and the mall and the community center and so has no real conception of what cold is. So we watch Tigana start out the back door yesterday.
"What are doing?!"
"What? I put a sweater on! I'm just going out to make a snowman"
"Close that door!" followed by a 2 hour lecture on cold weather safety (and the unsuitability for snowmen of snow at -40). How could kids not know that -40 kills you? But nobody of their generation has been outside long enough to know about frostbite. (Except the kid at Tigana's school with the plastic ears -- we referred to him a lot when explaining about amputation of frozen limbs....)
